Fogg became one of India’s top-selling deodorant brands with its “no gas” body sprays, and it is made by Vini Cosmetics, a Mumbai-based personal-care company. High sales volumes mean large and busy production lines where bottling workers, packaging helpers and production operators work in shifts to keep up with demand.
These jobs suit people with an 8th to 12th pass or ITI background who want steady indoor work. This guide explains the daily routine on a deodorant line, realistic pay, where hiring happens and how to apply safely without paying anyone.
We are an independent career guide and are not linked to Fogg or Vini Cosmetics. Production may happen in own plants or with contract manufacturers, so always check the actual employer named in your offer letter.
What the Work Involves
On a deodorant bottling line, empty cans are loaded onto a conveyor, filled with the fragrance concentrate and propellant, crimped with valves, checked in a water bath or leak tester, fitted with actuators and caps, coded and packed. Each worker manages one station, and the machine sets the pace.
- Bottling Line Worker: loads empty cans, fits valves or caps, removes rejects and keeps the conveyor flowing.
- Production Operator: runs filling, crimping and gassing machines, sets parameters and handles small adjustments.
- Packaging Helper: applies shrink-wrap, packs into cartons, labels and stacks pallets.
- QC Inspector: checks weight, leakage, spray pattern, cap fit and batch coding.
- Material Handler: brings raw and packing material to the line and moves finished pallets to the store.
8:15 AM – Line briefing: batch, targets, safety reminders
8:30 AM – 12:30 PM – Filling, capping, labelling or packing
12:30 PM – Lunch break (canteen or tiffin)
1:15 PM – 4:30 PM – Line work, carton sealing, counting
4:30 PM – Line clearance, cleaning and handover
Most plants run two or three shifts, especially before festive seasons when deodorant and perfume demand is highest. Line clearance is taken very seriously: before a new fragrance batch starts, every leftover bottle, label and carton from the previous batch must be removed so that products do not get mixed. Aerosol cans are pressurised and the propellant is flammable, so smoking, mobile phones on the line and loose clothing are usually not allowed in filling areas.

✓ Valid Aadhaar card and bank account
✗ You cannot stand for long hours
✗ You dislike repetitive line work
✗ You want only day shifts with no change
✗ You expect an office or desk job
Salary: What You Can Realistically Expect
Pay in fragrance and deodorant plants depends on the state minimum wage, whether you are on company or contractor payroll, your shift and your experience. Figures below are approximate monthly gross amounts for entry and early-career roles.
Company-payroll workers usually also get PF, ESI (if eligible), statutory bonus and paid leave. Your in-hand amount will be lower than gross because PF and ESI are deducted. Overtime during peak season can add a meaningful amount, but it should always be paid at the legal rate.
Skills That Increase Your Salary
- Machine operation: filling, crimping, capping, labelling or shrink-wrap machines – operators earn more than helpers.
- Quality basics: checking fill level, leakage, cap fit, label position and batch coding.
- Forklift or hand pallet truck licence/training: very useful in warehouse and dispatch roles.
- Barcode scanning and basic computer use: needed for inventory and dispatch entries.
- Safety awareness: understanding how to handle pressurised and flammable products.
- Good attendance: directly affects contract renewal and selection for permanent posts.
Most factories review grades once or twice a year. Workers who learn more than one machine or station, keep a clean attendance record and do not cause quality complaints are usually first in line when a higher-paying post opens. If you are still studying, an ITI trade linked to machines or electronics is one of the most useful investments you can make for this sector.
Where Hiring Happens
Personal-care companies in India often manufacture in tax-friendly industrial hubs such as Baddi (Himachal Pradesh), Haridwar and Rudrapur (Uttarakhand), Daman, Silvassa and parts of Gujarat and Maharashtra, either in their own units or with contract manufacturers. Openings typically come through:
- Vini Cosmetics’ official website and LinkedIn page for manufacturing, quality and supply chain roles.
- Contract manufacturers producing aerosols and personal-care products.
- Manpower agencies in industrial areas supplying helpers and operators.
- ITIs and placement offices near industrial estates.
- Job portals like Apna, WorkIndia and Naukri – search “aerosol operator” or “deodorant factory”.
Contract, Benefits and Your Legal Rights
Whether you join Vini Cosmetics directly, a contract manufacturer or a manpower contractor, Indian labour law gives every factory and warehouse worker a basic set of protections. Knowing them helps you spot a bad employer early.
- Minimum wage: you must be paid at least the minimum wage your state has notified for your skill level (unskilled, semi-skilled or skilled).
- PF and ESI: covered employers must deduct and deposit both. You can check PF deposits with your UAN on the EPFO portal.
- Appointment letter and payslip: ask for both. Contractors must also maintain a wage register and give you a wage slip.
- Overtime: work beyond normal hours should be paid at the legal overtime rate, usually double the ordinary rate.
- Leave and bonus: you earn paid leave as per the Factories Act and statutory bonus if you fall within the eligibility limit.
- Safety equipment: gloves, masks, safety shoes or goggles must be provided free where the job needs them.
Before signing, read the letter slowly. It should state your designation, the employer’s legal name, monthly wages, shift hours, contract or probation period and notice period. Take clear photos of your joining letter and every payslip and keep them on your phone. These small records become very important if there is ever a dispute about wages, PF or your experience certificate.
The Real Work Environment
Fragrance and deodorant factories are cleaner than heavy industries, but they are busy places. You will mostly stand at a conveyor line, wear gloves, a cap and sometimes a mask, and handle the same product thousands of times in a shift. The smell of perfume is strong in filling areas; most people get used to it within a few days, but people with strong allergies should mention this at the interview.
Supervisors focus on two things: speed and zero mix-ups. Wrong labels, leaking cans or missing batch codes are treated as serious errors. New workers usually start on simple packing and are moved to machines after they understand the line. Many plants employ women in packing and quality roles, and some contractors provide shared accommodation or transport, though this is not guaranteed.
Company Payroll vs Contractor Payroll
• Better job security
• Yearly increments and grades
• Full statutory benefits
• Fewer openings
• Fixed-term contracts (often 6–11 months)
• Pay close to minimum wage
• PF/ESI should still apply – verify
• Good way to gain first experience
For many freshers, starting on contractor payroll is the practical entry point. Use that time to learn machines and build a good record, then apply for company-payroll or operator vacancies with real experience on your resume.
Growth Path
Each step usually takes one to three years, depending on performance and openings. Operators who understand changeovers, small machine adjustments and quality checks are valued across the whole FMCG sector, not just in fragrances. That means experience here can also help you get jobs in cosmetics, personal care, pharma packaging or food factories later.
To grow faster, ask your supervisor which skills the next grade needs, volunteer to learn changeovers, and keep copies of any internal training certificates. A part-time diploma in mechanical or production engineering can later open technician and junior engineer roles.
How to Apply: Step by Step
- Prepare a simple one-page resume with your name, mobile number, education, any ITI trade, previous factory or warehouse experience and preferred location.
- Check the official careers page of Vini Cosmetics (the official Vini Cosmetics website) and its LinkedIn page for manufacturing, supply chain or trainee openings.
- Register on the government apprenticeship portal (NAPS) and the National Career Service portal, and search for FMCG, packaging or manufacturing companies near you.
- Visit your ITI or polytechnic placement cell and ask about campus drives by factories in nearby industrial areas.
- If you use a manpower agency, confirm it has a real office, a GST or company registration and that it does not charge you any fee.
- Attend the interview with documents, and before joining, ask for a written offer or appointment letter that clearly names your employer.
Large brands often keep a waiting list of screened candidates, so even if there is no opening today, staying registered with genuine agencies and portals can bring a call within a few weeks.
Interview Tips
- Expect basic questions about your education, family and location, plus a simple physical fitness or eyesight check.
- Say clearly that you can work in shifts and follow safety rules – this matters a lot in plants handling aerosols.
- Mention any packing, warehouse, machine or delivery experience with simple examples.
- Ask politely about salary, shift timing, overtime, PF/ESI and whether the payroll is company or contractor.
- Tell them honestly if you have any allergy to strong smells or chemicals.
- Dress neatly, carry documents and reach on time.
Practise short answers to common questions: Why do you want factory work? Can you stand for eight hours? Are you comfortable with night shifts? Have you worked with machines or packing before? Can you join quickly? Simple, honest and confident answers usually work better than long stories.
Scams and Common Mistakes
No genuine employer, including Fogg, asks you to pay for an interview, uniform, ID card, training or offer letter. If anyone asks for money by UPI, WhatsApp or cash, stop and report it.
Social media ads promising Fogg “packing work from home” with high daily pay are a common scam. Real packing and production work happens on-site in a factory or warehouse.
Starting work without an appointment letter, wage slip or PF registration makes it very hard to claim unpaid wages, overtime or an experience certificate later.
